3Beginner SurfboardApr 19, 2011
By Rick Waldrop
Great board for beginner! My 8 year old son wanted to try surfing, this was the perfect board for him to try on. Fairly durable, too. It lasted 8 hours per day in the water and on the beach (in the sun) for a week. He did great learning on it and was standing riding waves by day 2. My 10 year old daughter used it quite a bit for body surfing. Year 2 coming up soon...

Great training board for kids about 4 feet tall. Floats her great and she can manuver it well. I have a large doyle that I trained her on, but I had to push her off. Now she rides with me.

1This is a toy, not a surfboardJun 24, 2011

I though this would be a 6' foam surfboard. Instead it is a kids toy. A 6' board should be able to hold a teenage surfer. This won't. It is styrofoam with a thin plastic bottom and isn't shaped for actual surfing. To add insult to injury, when I returned it (by Fedex at a $20 expense) they denied receiving it.

5Good cheap starter boardMay 06, 2011
By P. Alster "Motherless Daughter"
Bought this for my 6 year old and have not put it in the water yet but for the price it is what you should expect. The foam seems to be similar to what other foamies offer. The fins are made out of very stiff rubber, like a car tire, but they do not seem capable of cutting skin. You have to screw them in with supplied plastic hardware - very easy - but not super durable looking. The leash is terrible so you will want to upgrade that but its nice that they included any kind of leash so you can just get out there and try it.

The board is quite thick so it should float great. The overall shape looks good but it might have a bit too much rocker - a flatter bottom would have been a better choice for learning but I have no way to know for sure until we use it. It's about 6 feet tall and for a four foot kid, learning on this might be difficult - a seven footer would have been a better choice. The base lamination is glued cheaply to the board but is stuck on pretty good for now. I can see that delaminating after some use but hopefuly it should stick long enough to graduate to a real board.
